Materials Monday: Hemp

Happy Monday!! We are so sorry for the small lag between posts. Ya know, it's been tough juggling everything while also writing this book!

I wanted to introduce you this morning to Hemp Cording. Hemp cord can be found at most crafting stores and at online beading shops.


What is hemp?? Hemp is a soft, durable fiber that comprised from the Cannabis plant. It is growing quickly into one of the most popular environmental producing agents of products including paper, textiles, biodegradable plastics, construction, health food, fuel, and medical purposes.
Hemp cord is made up of several multi-yarns that are twisted together to make a cording. It comes in a natural color and also dyed colors- some bright, some earthy.

Hemp cording is commonly used in macrame jewelry or other knotted designs. It holds knots firmly and is easy to work with.
